Newdigate 186 all out vs Graveney 128-9

The first match of the season and it was good to see a number of Newdigate batsmen in the runs. The Newdigate batting was solid with Dan Jones (23) and Hiten Patel (27) both batting well but Richard Callcut (49) and Mike Quiqley (44) accelerated the scoring rate and despite a flurry of late wickets the home team was happy with their total of 201.

Graveney lost two quick wickets then R.Davies (25) and N.Goodburn (16) put together a useful partnership before they were both dismissed by Richard Callcut who took 3-2 from four overs. Skipper, Paul Bettesworth used nine bowlers in order to find a way of getting ten wickets and it nearly happened when Simon Capel chipped in with 2-4 from just two overs but D.Moody (6 not out ) and T.Bunn (10 not out) denied the home team a victory.
