Addiscombe 200 all vs.Newdigate 157 all out.
A lackluster fielding performance cost Newdigate a win in the Surrey Trust Development League against Addiscombe. Addiscombe won the toss and elected to take first use of a good track. Jack Docherty showed his intensions early on and scored freely. Newdigate had a few chances to take his wicket but did not and Doherty made sure he took full advantage of this opportunity to keep his teams scoring rate high. Newdigate did take wickets on a regular basis from the other end though with some accurate bowling from Alex Southon (3 for 27) and Ben Crook (2 for 31). Doherty went on to bring up an excellent hundred before falling to Harry Ramsey (2 for 36) for a well made 103.despite Doherty's ton the visiting side kept Addiscombe down to 200 in their allocated forty overs and this looked a par score with the track still playing good.
In reply, Newdigate lost two wickets in the second over and needed a partnership to steady them. Vice captain Matt Clarke and Alex Southon kept the run rate in check for Newdigate before Clarke falling to Benham for 31. Newdigate skipper Ruky Wickremasinghe then joined Southon and the pair stated to build another partnership and at the 20 over drinks break Newdigate was well placed at 117 for the loss of 3 wickets. As always though the drinks break brought wickets for the home side as Wickremasinghe fell immediately after the break for 27 and the traditional Newdigate collapse was to start as they were all out for 157 in just 34 overs. Only Harry Ramsey (22) showed any resistance after but the lack of support from the other end meant Addiscombe walked away with the win. For the home side Anthony Starnes (3 for 16) and Barry Lineker (3 for 14) were the pick of the bowlers.
