Newdigate got off to a winning start in their Surrey Trust Development League game against Camberley at home. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the home team lost an early wicket but was steadied by a 62 run second wicket partnership between Matt Clarke (20) & Matt Jee. Once Clarke was out Pete Edwarde joined Jee and they both took on the bowlers to take Newdigates scoring rate to over five runs per over. After Jee passed his fifty he opened up and started to play the big shots to up the tempo more. Jee in the process brought up his third hundred for the club and put on 130 for the third wicket with Edwarde (45). Jee was finally out for a excellent 108. With wickets in hand, Newdigate's lower order flashed their bats and got the home team to very formidable score of 259 for 7 in their allocated 40 overs. For Camberley Gary Udal finished with figures of 8/3/19/1 and he took four catches to go with that.

In reply Camberley trying to keep up with the asking rate of over a run a ball lost two early wickets to Des Harris. Young leggie Jack Bowley came on to the attack and took the prized wicket of Dawes. Wickremasinghe then bowled Udal and with some tight bowling from Bowley and U15 Stephen Kehl, Camberley required to score over nine runs per over. The visiting skipper Sam Holmes kept the attack coming to the Newdigate bowlers and with some fine support from George Crowdley, bought up his fifty with a majestic six over long on. Harris came back in to the attack and took three further wickets and with Ben Crook uprooting the middle stump of the last man Newdigate marched on to a comfortable 47 run victory. Harris finished with excellent figures of 5 for 33 in seven over spell and Bowley's figures were 2 for 27 off 8 overs. The bowlers were well supported by the fielders to make it an excellent entry to the Development League.
