19/07/09 Jenny Chamberlain Memorial Match (H)
On an overcast cloudy day, Newdigate Cricket Club played their annual memorial match to the memory of Jenny Chamberlain.

The 'New Boys' won the toss and decided to bat, Jez Coulson wiped the cobwebs off the bowling arm to get the game started. The New Boys started well, KeithPposne r(28) and Sam Slade (32) batted well early on, which gave them the early advantage. Four quick wickets fell, superbly bowled by C. Holland 6/1/29/5 which really kept the pressure on. A middle order Partnership by Darren Drew (46) and Andrew Posner (45) took the game into The New Boys favour. As Newdigate finished their innings on 208 all out.
After a great tea, The 'Olds Boys' went out to bat butlike the first innings four quick wickets fell to the fielding side and the old Boys were in a little bit of trouble and needed somebody to step up and produce a smashing innings to mount a challenge and in came Adam Davies who smashed his way to a very quick 50. The New Boys really need to remove his wicket otherwise the game would be lost so the ball was passed to Andrew Posner to have a go at removing this prize wicket, he very confidently took the ball and ran in six times and Davies gave him the same reply six times, six 6's over midwicket and square leg to add salt in the New Boys wounds. This took him personally to 144. Newdigate New Boys desperately needed that wicket now and it came through Darreen Drew who took two wickets with two balls. So with two overs left the Old Boys needs three to win, and they got them comfortably. A great game played with the highest spirits and best atmosphere, it really marked the reasons why the game was played today and really showed us again what a friendly side Newdigate is. All proceeds went to charity from the day, and Newdigate and especailly Andrew Posner won't forget this day in a long time!!
