Merrow 213-9 vs. Newdigate 89 all out.
On an overcast Sunday afternoon, Newdigate travelled to Merrow for their next fixture.
Merrow won the toss and decided to bat, there was a very fast outfield so this seemed like a very wise decision at the time, and it proved to be right. Although none of the Merrow batsmen scored big runs, they all chipped in to declare on 213-9, the only form of resistance came from young Henry Warne 9/1/31/5, who bowled superbly and completely deserved his 5 for.
Newdigate's turn too ba,t and on the back of five innings of 250+ were confident of the win. But they were met with a tight and accurate bowling attack, the mighty straight ball seemed too tough for half the team, as Newdigate were skittled for 89.
Merrow had played well and really deserved the win. Newdigate will have to improve before next weeks game.
