Newdigate 264 - 7 vs. Nutley Hall 236 - 9
On the final Sunday of April, Newdigate travelled to Reigate to play Nutley Hall at the Reigate Grammar School. Nutley Hall won the toss and asked Newdigate to bat.
Newdigate started quickly scoring at five runs an over early on, skipper Sam Slade setting the early pace scoring 54 in ten overs. Newdigate kept this tempo up throughout the majority of their innings with Hiten Patel scoring 63 and Chris Perrin 54.The fast out field made it very tough for bowlers and Newdigate took full advantage of this, scoring 264 for 7 after 40 overs.
After the break Nutley Hall came out looking to take advantage of the good batting track, and they made a great start Costin (71) and Fisher (29) makingexcellent progresst for their team but the partnership was finally broken when Darren Drew (Westlife)found that special thing and took his first ever adult cricket wicket with a great delivery taken by the keeper. Newdigate had found that break through that they had desperately needed, but it didn't stop Nutley Hall's, Ryder, who hit a very fast 56, to put Nutley back in the driving seat, Newdigate needed to dig deep or they were going to lose this game that they had batted so well for, and on came Peter Trower 3/0/17/2, he took two very quick wickets, and turned the game into Newdigate's favour. Nutley Hall finished on 236 for 9 from 40 overs, 28 runs short of their target,so Newdigate was denied a hard fought for victory.
