Newdigate 267 all out vs. Maori Oxshott 268-4
On the hottest day Surrey has seen for a long time, Newdigate made the journey to Oxshott, for their next fixture.
After winning the toss Skipper Sam Slade decided to bat, this was questioned due to the strength of the opposition.
The hosts took the early advantage, taking two quick wickets, putting pressure on the middle order and the skipper who was still out in the middle. But Newdigate grinded out a good innings against some top class bowling. Chris Perrin 42 and Sam Slade with his maiden century (114) took the fight to Maori Oxshott and set a difficult total.
After tea Newdigate knew that they had set a defendable total, and Maori had their work cut out to beat it. The first few overs would be key.
Maori Oxshott took advantage and after the first ten overs were scoring over 10 an over. But Newdigate came back! Simon Hayward ( 7/0/56/2) taking a quick two wickets after a drinks break. This caused a slight rumble in the innings, but it wasn't enough! Zeshan went on to score an unbeaten 103 and guide Maori Oxshott to the win with 6 overs to spare.
A tremendous game, played in very high spirits and very hot conditions.
