Newdigate 149 all out vs. Woodmansterne 144 all out.
Newdigate travelled to Woodmansterne for their third game of the season and they put Newdigate into bat on a very sunny Sunday,
Newdigate struggled to take advantage of a great batting track, the bowling attack was strong and accurate, Newdigate needed someone to set up and make a stand against the great display from the home side, and Pete Edwarde did just that, he scored a superb 79 not out whilst his team mates fell quickly around him. Newdigate scored 149 all out with some brilliant bowling from Harris 4,0,18, 3, but on such a super batting wicket was it going to be enough?
Woodmansterne starting scoring quickly, with wickets falling, their run rate was far superior to that of Newdigate in the previous innings. Newdigate needed to keep it tight and they did, 23 runs came from the next 12 overs at a critical time in this fixture. Jose de Castro 8,2,25,3, bowled well and with two overs to play Woodmansterne needed 7 runs to win with 1 wicket remaining. Newdigate were all on their toes and the crowd on their feet, Benson nicked one behind from Perrin, and Newdigate had won a fantastic game of cricket by 5 runs.
Newdigate have won 3 from 3 now and they entertain Redhill and Old Coulsdon next week.
