Rudgwick 239-3 vs Newdigate 3rd XI 177-6

 

Rudgwick won the toss and elected to bat and were soon pretty happy with their decision. Opener, M. Clark (79 no) soon lost partners but when he was joined by number five, R. Claber, the score accelerated against the young Newdigate bowlers. Claber was finally out for 99 when he was caught by Jack Bowley off the bowling of Barry Jordan. Angus Campbell took 2-42 but the Rudgwick total of 239-4 looked pretty formidable.

 

At 17-3 the game looked all over but Chris Fox took the initiative and scored 60 which included eleven fours and he was ably assisted by Dev Patel (32). When they were both out to the bowling of Clark, Campbell (29 no) and Stephen Kehl (14 no) saw the visitors home for a draw.

 

This side was skippered ably by 15 year old Stephen Kehl who held the respect of both young and old players.
