Graveney 119 all out vs. Newdigate 3rd XI 121-2

 

On a beautiful summers day Newdigate 3rd XI entertained Graveney at the Friends Provident ground at Dorking. This team is very much a mixture of old hands and young players striving to get into the league sides.

 

Graveney batted first and after the unfortunate run out of John O'Driscoll, they verily rattled the score along with Barry Gray (25) being particularly severe on anything short. After 12 overs they were on 67-2 with D.Allen (30) and N.Goodburn (11) settling in nicely. Enter the two leggies, Matt Dilger and John Callcut, and the game turned round with wickets falling at an alarming rate. Dilger took 3-23  from eight overs and Callcut 2-4 from five overs as Graveney tumbled to 119 all out.

 

In reply Roger Bailey (11) and David Atkinson (4) put on 17 before they were both out. Thomas Ball then hit a chanceless 29 not out but it was the power and timing of Chris Perrin (61 not out) that saw Newdigate home as comfortable winners after just nineteen overs and the loss of two wickets.
