South Nutfield U10 200 - 15 vs Newdigate U10 Match abandoned.
Normally when a game is abandoned we don't bother with a report but the exploits of one boy in particular should be recorded.
After overnight rain the main pitch was unplayable so this game was transferred to the Flicx wicket on the football ground and after winning the toss Newdigate decided to bowl in bright sunshine.
This is a well organised side and they bowled and fielded well restricting South Nutfield to 200 for the loss of 15 wickets after 20 overs. Joseph Teague, playing only his third game took four wickets and Jonathan Reid took his first ever wicket in a competitive match. But Oliver Turner, coming in as a late replacement, bowled magnificently and took four wickets for one run including a hat-trick. The ball will be saved and mounted for him to keep.
Thick black clouds came in from the south west and heavy rain ensued. It was decided to abandon the match and as the last car left the car park the sun came out |
