Newdigate Under 10s  285 vs. Woodmansterne U10s 246

 

This was the under 10s first match of the season and for some the first time that they had played with a hard ball but they acquitted themselves well and achieved a fine win over Woodmansterne.

 

Newdigate batted first and quickly learnt that the key element in achieving a good score is not to get out and forfeit four runs. After their 20 overs they had scored 285 with only three dismissals. Ollie Turner batted well for his 9 and George Warne (14) and Finn Osborne (8) kept the momentum going. Noah Van Stijp took two wickets for Woodmansterne.

 

The Newdigate bowling and fielding was impressive and they consistently kept taking wickets which never allowed Woodmansterne to get on even terms and they finished on 246 which included nine dismissals. George Warne and James Bennett each took two wickets but Henry John was awarded the player of the match for bowling three very tight overs.
