Unbeaten Newdigate travelled to the picturesque Limpsfield ground with a line-up depleted by under13 school trips, and hence were forced to include three under12s and an under11.

 

Asked to bat first, Alex Southon (17) started well before getting caught.  Makeshift opener Henry Warne survived a couple of chances before settling down and picking up singles to give the striek to Fraser Mosley.  The pair accumulated a mature partnership of over 100 before Warne was unfortunately run out for 42.  Mosley continued on and retired for 50.  The remaining batsmen scrambled quick runs to post a competitive 158-3 from their 20 overs

 

In reply Oxted started well with Mark Milton (36) particularly impressing.  However, when he was smartly stumped by Mosley off the bowling of Under11 Andrew Kehl, then the home sides reply fell away.  With the game won, Newdigate were able to afford the luxury of using 9 bowlers, and the wickets were shared around.  Newdigates fielding which was of the highest order throughout, and particularly deserving of mention were under 12s Will Roberts, and Matt Whapshott, who contributed 3 runouts between them.

 

Newdigate still have a 100% record at this age group, and will host Woodmansterne next week hoping to strengthen their position at the top of the league
