The match started with heavy, threatening clouds which turned into rain at rhe end of the visitors innings. Will Bennett bowled a hostile opening spell and he was well backed up by Harry Ramsey but it was skipper, Stephen Kehl with four wickets who put Newdigate into a commanding position having dismissed Southern Rail & Kenly for 92. But then the rains came.
