Merstham 124-3 vs. Newdigate 127-4

 

On a searing hot evening Newdigate lost the toss and not surprisingly Merstham elected to bat. William Preston (26) and Johnny Deans (47) put on an opening partnership of 50 in spite of some pretty good bowling from the Newdigate seamers. Chellis then added a robust 29 and the home team finished on 124-3. Southon, Kehl and Morris all took one wicket apiece.

 

The Newdigate batting followed a similar pattern with a solid opening partnership of 69 by Alex Southon (42) and Matt Clarke (48 no). A flurry of wickets saw Newdigate struggling on 95-4 after 16 overs but Clarke kept his nerve and watched with admiration as Jordan Morris hit a quick fire twenty to see his side home with seven balls to spare.
