Newdigate U9 290-4 vs. Capel U9 311-6

 

A weakened Newdigate side travelled to neighbours, Capel and despite losing put up a creditable performance.

 

Newdigate batted first and the batsmen seemed determined to protect their wickets and as a result runs were pretty slow in coming. Lewis Smith hit eight runs but it was the talented Jack Duncan who struck anything loose and scored an excellent 28. Capel struggled with wides and the Newdigate innings closed on 290.

 

In reply Newdigate had even more problems with wides and gifted Capel with many extras. Nevertheless most of the batsmen played well with P.Westward (13) and F.Hague (10) batting consistently. Although they lost six wickets, Capel passed Newdigate's total with comparitive ease and reached 311 after their allotted twenty overs.
