Under 9s - East Surrey Colts League

24/07/2010 Oxted & Limpsfield (h) - Friendly
Newdigate 307-3 vs Oxted & Limpsfield 253-12

Having had their league match cancelled Newdigate invited Oxted & Limpsfield to play a friendly at the Brocus.

Newdigate batted first and all the batsmen played sensibly and although not too many runs were scored off the bat, wickets were preserved which is such a key element in pairs cricket. The last pairing of Morgan Hamilton (9) and Jack Duncan (7) has gained a reputation for skillful running between the wickets and they are proving to be an effective fifth wicket pairing. Newdigate benefited from the many wides bowled by Oxted and finished on a good score of 307.

Oxted & Limpsfield made a steady start and the first pairing saw their side handily placed on 221. But the breakthrough came when Jack Duncan took three wickets in four balls and these were followed by wickets from Morgan Hamilton, Finlay Hayes and George Wood. Sam Perrin, who had kept tidily throughout the match, then entered the fray and he too took three wickets in an over and not to be outdone Joshua Oram also picked up a brace. This excellent bowling was backed up by some very good catching as Oxted completed their 20 overs on a total of 253.
